Crochet Bat Amigurumi Pattern In Two Different Colors

Published: Jul 28, 2024

This Crochet Bat Amigurumi is a cute little project that lets you create a small, cuddly bat using yarn and a crochet hook. You build the bat piece by piece, starting with the round head and adding round ears that stand up.

The body is also shaped like a little ball, and you can make tiny legs that stick out at the bottom. The bat's wings are special, with little points that make them look real. Once you crochet all the parts, you stitch them together, add some eyes, and your little crochet bat buddy is ready! It's a fun craft that's perfect for anyone who loves cute creatures and wants to make their own plush toy.

Materials:

  • Yarn: DK number 3 (brown, pink for the nose/mouth area, white for the teeth)
  • Small safety eyes
  • Stuffing
  • Tools: Scissors, tape measure, 4mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, stitch marker

  3. Round 2: Increase (inc) in each stitch around. [12 sc].
  4. Round 3: Sc in the first stitch, inc in the next. Repeat around. [18 sc].
  5. Round 4: Sc in the next 2 stitches, inc in the next. Repeat around. [24 sc].
  6. Rounds 5-8: Sc in each stitch around. [24 sc each round].

Ears (Make 2):

  1. Start with a magic ring. Chain 2 (counts as the first stitch).
  2. In the ring: Work 1 double crochet (dc), chain 3, then slip stitch (sl st) into the first chain to form a picot, 1 dc, chain 2, sl st into the ring. Close off leaving a tail for sewing.

Body:

  1. The beginning steps are the same as the head, starting with 6 sc in a magic ring.
  2. Round 2: Work an increase pattern up to 9 stitches.
  3. Rounds 3-4: Continue increasing as described for the head.
  4. Rounds 5-6: Sc in each stitch around. [15 sc each round].
  5. Round 7: Sc in the next 2 stitches, then dec. Repeat around. [12 sc].
  6. Round 8: Sc in the next stitch, then dec. Repeat around. [9 sc].

Legs (Make 2 directly on the body):

  1. Chain 4, return with sc in each chain back to the body. Sl st to the body.
  2. Secure, cut, and hide the yarn ends inside the body.

Wings (Make 2):

  1. Chain 6, starting in the second chain from the hook, make 4 sc. Continue following the pattern to create the wing shape with increases, and peaks by creating picots at the tips of the wings.
  2. After completing one wing, you repeat the process for the second wing, then sew the two wings together at the end, leaving the yarn for sewing the wings to the body.

Assembling:

  1. Sew the ears to the top of the head.
  2. Attach the head to the body.
  3. Sew the wings to the back of the body.
  4. Make any final adjustments to the position of the parts or the stuffing as needed.
