Beginner’s Tip:
You build the duck’s body using single crochet increases, then decrease to shape the tail and neck. Color changes are made on the last step of the round—just yarn over with the new color and keep both tails tucked inside. After shaping, stuff as you go and set eyes, then continue with plain rounds for the neck and head.

Wings (Beige or white)

Beginner’s Tip:
Wings are built in the magic ring with simple tall stitches. Pull tight to create a shape; sew one on each side of body.

Beak (Orange)

Ch 5.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, next 2 ch. In last ch: 2 sc.
Work around to other side of chain: 3 sc. (8)
Round 2: sc in each st (mark first sc). Fold and slip stitch to finish.
Shape the beak and leave a tail or glue for attaching.

Feet (Orange)

MR, ch 3.
In MR: 3 dc.
Pull tight and turn; ch 1, sc in each dc and in ch-3 foundation (total 4 sc).

Assembly & Finishing

Insert safety eyes between Rounds 12–13 across the head, spaced symmetrically.
Stuff duck body firmly, shaping tail and head.
Sew wings on each side, one with RS (right side) facing out, one WS (wrong side) facing, for natural shaping.
Attach beak centered between eyes using glue or by sewing.
Attach feet centered below, aligning with eyes, using glue or sewing.
If making a "patita," attach flower to top of head.
Embroider eyelashes with black yarn or thread by sewing around eyes, starting above, curving outward.
Knot and hide all excess threads inside.
Shape the beak for a rounded, wavy effect if desired.

Solution of Problem

If your duck does not stand upright, flatten the base slightly and stuff firmly.
If color transitions are messy, make color changes on last yarn over of round, work ends inside.
If wings or feet curl, sew one with RS facing out, one with WS, for natural posing.
