Explanation for new crocheters:
You are shaping the cup by increasing 3 stitches at the point on every row (always marked). Work for 8 rows or until you achieve your desired coverage.

Joining the Cups

  • Position both cups side by side, right sides up.
  • With working yarn, attach to outer edge of first cup with a slip knot.
  • Ch 2, work hdc across to the center point.
  • At increasing point (marker), add 2 more hdc (total of 3).
  • Take second cup, find its increasing point, sl st to the 2nd hdc of the second cup in the 3-hdc group.
  • hdc across top of second cup.

If you need more space between cups:
You may ch 3–4 before connecting, then sl st to the next cup.

Neckline Shaping

  • Attach yarn at the top edge near cup join.
  • Ch 2, turn.
  • hdc across to the center join/ch space.
  • Repeat for three rows:
    • Row 1: hdc across
    • Row 2: Stop two spaces from center. Work hdc2tog over two sts before center, hdc2tog over two after center.
    • Row 3: hdc across (no decreases).
  • Fasten off.

This section gently shapes and adds coverage to the neckline. If you need more, add rows.

Underbust Band

  • Attach yarn at lower left cup corner.
  • Ch 2, hdc across lower edge, including cup join.
  • Repeat for four rows:
    • Row 1: hdc across
    • Rows 2 & 3: At mid-point, work hdc2tog for decrease on both sides.
    • Row 4: hdc across.

This panel creates a supportive band beneath the cups. Customize more for your bust size as needed.

Side Bands (Make 2)

  • Attach yarn at the side seam of lower cup.
  • Work sc evenly along the side, to mid-back or desired length.
  • Ch 1, turn, sc back.
  • Begin band: Ch 2, turn, skip first st, hdc in each st to end.
  • Repeat for 22 rows (or until you reach your own measurement).
  • Repeat on opposite side for the other band.

You are making wrap-around bands that form the back closure of your top.

Join Side Bands

  • Fold band ends with right sides together.
  • Sl st through both layers to seam.
  • Fasten off, weave in ends.

Neckline Edging

  • Join accent color at neckline edge.
  • sc evenly around entire neckline.
  • Fasten off, weave in ends.

This tidy edge prevents stretching and adds a finished look.

Straps (Make 2)

  • Attach yarn at top corner of cup.
  • hdc across next 3 sts, then ch 52 (or to fit shoulder).
  • sl st into desired position at the back band, symmetrical for both sides.
  • Turn, sc all the way up the chain.
  • sl st to anchor strap; repeat for desired strap width (3 rows is standard).
  • Repeat for second strap.

Underbust & Bodice Panel

  • Change color (optional), attach at band seam.
  • Ch 2, hdc in every st around, including side bands. sl st to join each round.
  • Repeat for 2 rows in band color.
  • Switch to main/contrasting color.
  • hdc for 3 rounds, joining each round.
  • For next 9 rounds: Alternate plain hdc round with an increase round:
    • On increase rounds, at each side marker, work 2 hdc in the same st.
    • Place stitch markers at side seams/fold points.
    • Alternate: one row plain, one row increase.
  • Final round: Add accent color if desired; fasten off.

Assembly & Finishing

  • Weave in all yarn tails with needle.
  • Block if desired for crisp edges.
  • Add optional accent rows for color.
  • Check fit and adjust: add rows to cups, band, body, or straps as needed.

What You Can Make With These Stitches

  • Cropped summer tops
  • Bralettes
  • Strappy camisoles
  • Simple shawls or rectangular scarves
  • Stretchy bands for other projects

Solution of Problem

If cup join feels too tight or gaps, add extra chains before connecting with a slip stitch at the center.
If edges are loose, add a final row of sc around for structure.
